Even to the casual adult dvd viewer, Alex DeRenzy was one of the most recognisable names among the industry's filmmakers - a writer/director whose penchant for raw and steamy erotic scenes was balanced with a fine eye for detail. This classic entry, the divine tale Bring On The Virgins, follows in the DeRenzy tradition. Heavenly messenger Joey Silvera is sent to Earth to learn why the "Big Guy's" preordained plan of "one man - one virgin" doesn't seem to be working like it used to. Posing as a magazine writer, Silvera interviews Porsche Lynn and her five daughters about their first sexual experiences, leading into a series of well-handled sex scenes that range from a hard-burning workout session and a scavenger hunt that turns up some unexpected prizes to Lynn's own remembrances of an 18th birthday celebration with two boyfriends. And when the youngest daughter confesses that she's still a virgin, Silvera is more than ready to remedy the situation (obviously angels need love, too). The veteran cast assembled here provides some fine performances, from Nina Hartley as the happy scavenger huntress and Lynn's teenage neophyte to Silvera's sex-starved seraph. DeRenzy's usual high production values and emphasis on the physicality of his sexual vignettes make what would have been an average feature a cut above the rest.
