What is there to say about a classic adult movie of the quality of Night Trips? Plenty! First and foremost, this spectacular erotic movie from 1989 celebrates the look and raw sensuality of Tori Welles. Just as important, this completely unique sexual art film breaks new ground and gives the industry a chance to support quality as it never has before. The film looks like the Playboy videos (in other words, superb images) - but with explicit sex. Without much dialogue and a very simple plot (Tori is spending time in a lab, hooked up to a device that allows Porsche Lynn and Randy Spears to analyse her erotic dreams), Night Trips would appear to have little going for it - but wait. This movie has an erotic frenzy that builds and builds and builds. Tori is passionate. In one moment she's in cool control, the next in unabashed passion. She consistently masturbates to her own dreams, and is presented on the screen by means of careful, clever editing that never interrupts the heated flow of the erotic poetry. That she performs sexually on a consistent basis throughout this feature is a bonus for her fans. Certainly, she's the only new true bona fide porn star of her era. It's her best sexual performance, one that almost defies the imagination. Her multi-girl lesbian scene (which includes Jamie Summers in a cameo) provides lustful heat, while her poolside sex scene with Ray Victory swelters. The final payoff with Randy Spears lacks foreplay, but satisfies on a hardcore level. While Night Trips boasts a look and feel completely alien to basic adult porn, it delivers the sexual goods. Yet it does so with technical merit unmatched in this industry. The film switches from colour to sepia tone to black-and-white with ease, with quick-paced editing and smooth cinematography. It's easy on the eye, and the camera tells the story, allowing the heat of the erotic scenes to develop naturally. Verdict: Quite special.
